4th year Entrepreneurship and B.A.T Student, Hear to Listen Volunteer
I volunteer as a listener with the Hear To Listen program at Strath Union. I began volunteering in October and have amassed around 50 hours of volunteering since then!
I began volunteering with Hear to Listen because I strongly believe in the need for greater support for student wellbeing on campus. Student wellbeing has been on the slide for some time but has hit rock bottom throughout the pandemic. This really hit home, personally, when a close friend and classmate took their own life at the start of the semester. With Hear to Listen I feel like I can make a real difference to the wellbeing of students in our community!
Volunteering with Hear to Listen has been incredible so far! With well over one hundred volunteers, I have been able to meet so many amazing people from all across the university! It also granted me the opportunity to develop a range of new skills by putting me through the Signs of Happiness training! I even had the opportunity to discuss the program on STV News! I would encourage anyone who thinks that they might be interested to give it a try and get involved!
