Swap Shop Volunteer

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Volunteer to Support our Swap Shop at Strath Union!

Our Swap Shop is a vibrant student-led initiative where people come together to exchange pre-loved items of clothing. It combines sustainability and creativity, fostering a culture of reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. Students can trade in items of clothing for something on the rack or receive a voucher to redeem later.

As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in making sure the Swap Shop runs smoothly. You will help students swap their items and pick out a new piece of clothing to be loved. You will also help with sorting donations, making sure they are of good quality and keeping the rack neat and tidy. Sustainability is important at Strath Union, and the Swap Shop is a great opportunity to educate visitors about the environmental benefits of swapping and encourage them to participate.

Volunteering at our Swap Shop is not just about giving your time; it is about making a meaningful impact. By getting involved with this initiative you will also gain benefits for yourself, such as: meeting other students, gaining experience in event organisation and management, learning about sustainability activity on campus, and developing customer service skills.

We're looking for someone who is..

  • Interested in promoting sustainability on campus and engaging with students
  • Friendly and open-minded
  • Organised and is keen to be part of a small but mighty team running the Swap Shop!

The Swap Shop takes place once a month for a few hours. In addition to helping with the event as a volunteer you would support with collecting and sorting donations as well as other small tasks in between events. In total you can expect to contribute around 1 hour a week in the role.
