Macmillan Cancer Information and Support

Glasgow Life are looking for caring individuals who have a few hours a week volunteer supporting people affected by cancer. Our volunteers provide a listening ear, emotional support, information and signposting to other local services.

Glasgow Life are currently looking for volunteers who would be able can volunteer and provide a listening ear, emotional support, information and signposting to other local services.to cover a few of our venues, some of the main activities included in the volunteer role would be:

  • Setting up and closing down the service.
  • Meeting and greeting people, providing a warm and friendly welcome to the Macmillan service within the library.
  • Providing a listening ear and emotional support to anyone accessing the service.
  • Making direct referrals to the appropriate supprot services when required.

No personal experience of cancer is necessary for the role.  We are looking for volunteers who have an open and friendly manner, are non-judgemental with good communication and listening skille.  Most important is a willingness to leaf and desirue to support others

We will train and support you every step of the way in your roe!  Most volunteers cover 2-3 sessions a month but this is flexible.

Please not a Basic Disclosure will be required for this role, Glasgow LIfe will process and pay for this.
