Request a Certificate

Get records and references of your volunteering at Strath Union.

Recording your Volunteering

This is where you can request your volunteering certificates. If you've logged your volunteering hours on our website, you can request Volunteering Hours Certificate, Skills Record, and a Reference Letter.

You can expect to receive your documents within 7 working days (although we're normally quicker). Sometimes we may need additional information from you. You can request a digital certificate or a physical copy to be picked up from Level 8 of the Union.

Volunteering Hours Certificate

Your Volunteering Hours Certificate shows the total number of volunteering hours you have completed in one academic year. This includes any volunteering you have done over the summer (prior to the start of the year).

Skills Record

Your Skills Record shows all the volunteering you have taken part in over the course of your studies, including your roles of responsibility, hours logged per academic year and all the skills you have logged for your volunteer roles.

This is super handy when you're looking for graduate jobs, or even applying for further study.

Example Skills Record

For more information about logging your skills and other employability support check out our Employability Guide.

Reference Letter

You can also request a reference letter from us. Typically, this would be sent to you on headed paper with information confirming your roles of responsibility, involvement in volunteering and any hours or skills you logged.

If we've worked with you more closely (Welcome Team, Clubs Exec, Sports Exec, Faculty Rep, Student Trustees), we may be able to provide you with a more detailed reference. Please include any relevant information to help us compile the letter, including who the letter should be addressed to and names of staff members you worked with. This allows us to respond to you as quickly as possible.

If you need something different, or if you have any questions, please email Volunteering.
