The Volunteer Tutors Organisation (VTO) is a charity that provides one-to-one tuition across Glasgow to children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Many of these young people are care experienced or school refusers. We believe that all children should have access to educational support, regardless of family circumstances. We are always looking for people to join our exciting, friendly, and committed volunteer team.
Become a Remote Tutor
You do not need formal training in education. If you are able to give up around an hour a week to volunteer with us, you can become an important part of the organisation and help make a difference to the lives of young people across Glasgow by supporting their educational goals.
Many of the children that we support are currently not able to attend school due to school closures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are looking for volunteers to work with us to support children and young people during this time and to provide access to educational support for those referred to us. You can take part in this opportunity from anywhere and the opportunity is entirely online at the moment.
You will be asked to fill out an application form, invited for an interview and as part of the selection process we require a check to be carried out through the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for working with children. VTO will process this and there is no cost to you.
Following the PVG check, completion of Induction training and receipt of two suitable references, you will be paired with a pupil.
Are you ready to change a young person's life?
