We have all positions filled for 2024/25 so are not recruiting at this stage.
Annually we recruit a variety of student staff roles to support the Sports Union team in the service we provide.
These positions provide students with many skills to expand their expertise, such as:
- Improved customer service skills
- Broadened knowledge of sports administration and sports development
- Experience using administrative tools and software
- Networking within the University and in the student sport sector
- Overall boosting graduate employability

SOCIAL & Recreational Assistant
Job role
Support the development of sport at Strathclyde, by assisting the Sport Development Coordinator (SDC) with student engagement in social and recreational sport opportunities.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the organisation and delivery of regular social sport sessions such as StrathActive, and one-off social and recreational sport events throughout the academic year
- Lead a team of volunteers that are part of the StrathActive programme, with tasks including setting a volunteer rota, and assisting with training and skills development
- Build a strong relationship with internal stakeholders, such as Strath Union and relevant departments within the University of Strathclyde
- Aid the development and progression of StrathActive by undertaking reviews and collating feedback to showcase in testimonials and reports
- Work closely with sports club committees on recreational sport opportunities, both within their own club offering, as well as the central Sports Union offering of organised events
- Assist with our marketing workstreams by contributing to digital marketing tasks such as social media posts for events and campaigns
- Act as front-facing reception cover in the office as well as managing the central Sports Union email and phone line for routine enquiries from students or sports club members, providing high standards of customer care
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the managing staff
The Nitty Gritty
- Up to 7 hours per week
- £12 per hour
- Must be a Strathclyde student in the 2024-25 Academic Year
- Term-time contract (Sept 24-April 25)
- Line managed by the Sport Development Coordinator
- Part of the Student's Association within the Sports Union department
Job Description - Social & Recreational Assistant
Competitions Assistant
Job role
Assis the Sport Programme Coordinator with key fixture and competitions administrational tasks covering all of our clubs entered in BUCS & SSS.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the collation of BUCS/SSS fixtures and results on a weekly basis
- Ensure the accuracy of fixtures and results across internal and external platforms
- Provide teams support with logistics when required
- Help to ensure BUCS/SSS entries are submitted within deadlines for individual/team competitions and events
- Create marketing materials related to competitions to be published via various social media platforms on a weekly basis
- Act as front-facing reception cover in the office as well as managing the central Sports Union email and phone line for routine enquiries from students or sports club members, providing high standards of customer care
- Ensure you have sound knowledge of the general and sport specific BUCS/SSS rules & regulations
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the managing staff
