WHO ARE WE?
We are the coordinating body for all organised sport at the University of Strathclyde. We are a constituent group of Strathclyde Students Union and integrated working partner of Strathclyde Sport, the University's sport and recreation department. Our service is managed by full-time staff members.
We are made up of a Sports Executive team. The Sports President is elected each year from the student body for a one year full time (paid) position and is assisted by the Sports Executive, made up of 8 elected students democratically elected at the Annual General Meeting.
Additionally, there is a staff team of 4 who work with the Sports Executive team, SU clubs, and SU membership on delivering a professional sports development service.
HISTORY
The University of Strathclyde Sports Union was founded in 1921 as the Royal Technical College Athletic Club. Over the years there have been numerous changes to the name and structure, but we officially became part of the Students’ Union in 1989 when the merger of the two bodies created our current structure.
