What's happening?

On Wednesday, 13th November we celebrate World Kindness Day and our Hear to Listen volunteers will be at the Union from 12-2pm doing acts of kindness and spreading their positive impact. Research shows that kindness can have a major impact on our mental health and wellbeing, sense of belonging, creating connections, and inspiring change.

We hope you join us to help make kindness the norm at Strathclyde! If you’re looking for inspiration, keep an eye on our Hear to Listen Instagram for ideas on small acts of kindness that anyone can do.

Our Rock Garden

As part of our wider work on making kindness the norm, this summer we set up a new addition to the campus environment – Kindness Rocks Garden! A Kindness Rocks Garden is a global trend where painted rocks are left outside for others to pick up and put a smile on their face. At Strathclyde, we have space for our rocks garden near the entrance to the Sir William Duncan building, where we hope the rocks bring joy to those who pass by!

If you ever walk past these colourful rocks please feel free to take one with you, and you can always bring your additions to the garden too! We hope that this small initiative will help create a welcoming atmosphere on our campus.

This project is set up by Strath Union with the help of Hear to Listen volunteers and the University’s Estates team.

We are currently looking for more pebbles to fill our garden with – if you are able to help us or want to get involved in other ways please get in touch at strathunion.volunteers@strath.ac.uk.
