We understand and agree that our lecturers’ teaching conditions are our learning conditions, and that any demands to better support University lecturers and professional services staff will improve the quality of life for our students.

With this in mind, the student exec believes that this year, we were elected on a mandate to deliver the best student experience possible given the amount of disruption to studies in the last two years and wish to protect the student experience as much as we can.

What this means is that we will support all students who wish to participate in and support our fellow unions’ activities come November, and we will also stand by our students who do not support the strike action. We are working closely with the University to urge them to meet the demands of the striking staff and to do all that we can to mitigate the impact on the student experience during this time.
