Strath Union is delighted to announce the appointment of Morna Simpkins as our new Chief Executive Officer. Morna will be stepping into the role, succeeding Manish Joshi, who announced in December 2023 that he would be leaving Strath Union to take on a new position at the University of Strathclyde.

With a strong background in third sector leadership, Morna joins us from her role as MS Society Director of Scotland & Lead Director for the devolved nations.  She brings with her exceptional leadership abilities and a heartfelt commitment to supporting students.

Speaking of her new appointment, Morna said: “Students are our future leaders and supporting and empowering them to thrive at University and beyond is why I am delighted to be joining the team at Strathclyde Union.  I look forward to working with Eva and the Board to continue to build on its success and to ensure that it continues to be ranked the Number One Student Union in Scotland.”

Eva Curran, Strath Union President and Chair of the Board, warmly welcomes Morna and shares her thoughts on what this means for the future of Strath Union: “I am thrilled to welcome Morna to the Strath Union team as our new CEO. Manish has been an exceptional leader, guiding the organisation to new heights over the past eight years. I look forward to continuing this success with Morna and the Board.”

Manish Joshi extends his best wishes for Strath Union's continued success as it moves into this new chapter, saying: “It was a privilege to serve the student body at Strathclyde for the past 8 years and to work closely with a number of amazing and inspiring student leaders during that time. Taking the Union from its historic home in John Street to the new location on Richmond Street will be a defining moment for me and I look forward to seeing what comes next for Strath Union. I want to wish Morna all the very best as she takes on this role and continues to transform the lives of students at Strathclyde.”
