The Union has been delighted to receive plenty of good news recently with staff, students and departments all receiving deserved recognition in several upcoming ceremonies.

Earlier this month seen BAME Rep Nathan Epemolu, Access and Participation Co-ordinatorSofia Khan and the Union itself nominated at the NUS Scotland awards for Strudent of the Year, Education Campaign of the Year and Students' Union of the Year award respectively.  Whilst it was not to be for Nathan or ourselves, Sofia was a well deserved winner and we can't congratulate her enough on the work she does with the amazing Widening Access team.

We were then massively excited to find out last week that the Union was up for Best Students' Union at the WhatUni? Student Choice Awards that will take place in London next month.  Given this is a UK wide competition we are absolutely thrilled to make the shortlist and congratulate all the students and staff that helped us get recognised.

On the same day the nominees for the Proud Scotland Awards were revealed and the Union picked up two nominations.  Our Policy & Campaigns Coordinator, Adam Crawley is up for Community Ally Award, and The Terrace for Small Employer Award.  Huge well done to all and we will find out in June if they win or not.

The shortlist for the Herald Higher Education Awards were revealed on the 26th of April and again members of Strath Union are up for two prizes.  The outstanding Hear to Listen team are up for the Supporting Student Wellbeing Award, with Sofia again being recognised for the Widening Access Award.  Good luck to all ahead of the ceremony on May 31st!
