Kirsty's Story

Volunteer Stories
Kirsty with Judy Murray at tennis event.

My name is Kirsty Bannatyne and I am a 4th year Marketing student. I’ve been involved in voluntary work throughout university and really enjoyed getting more involved in the wider sporting community as it has offered me so many opportunities throughout my time as a student.

At Strathclyde I currently volunteer as the Sponsorship Officer for the 2020/21 Sports Union Executive Committee, as well as the Social Secretary for Strathclyde Tennis Club. In first year I was also involved in the Strathclyde Cheerleading Club where I volunteered at events and university open days.

Outside of university I also volunteer as the Communications Officer for Scottish Student Tennis and I am a voluntary member of the Judy Murray Foundation Girl Squad.

Volunteering whilst at university has been very fulfilling and gave me a great opportunity to give back to the university whilst also working on my personal development. I’ve loved being so involved as I really enjoy meeting and connecting with new people from all sorts of background and building relationships with them. As a social tennis player, voluntary work has been key for me to meet lots of different people from across campus and beyond.

I’ve had the best 4 years as part of Strathclyde Sports Union, and although I’ve only got heavily involved in my 4th year, it’s something I can’t recommend doing enough.

For anyone considering it, just do it!
