Sport Programme Coordinator Job Description

The representative body for students of the University of Strathclyde – the University of Strathclyde Students’ Association (USSA) – are looking to recruit an outstanding individual to the role of Sport Programme Coordinator.

As a member of the Sports Union staff team, the successful candidate will focus on the support of our competitive sports clubs engaged in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) and Scottish Student Sport (SSS) frameworks. The role will be responsible for overseeing all fixtures, events and competitions, working across a variety of sports and closely with student volunteers to coordinate the core administration, organisation and logistical planning.

Furthermore, the post holder will contribute towards the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive sport programme by taking a leading role on key events and development projects. Working collaboratively with other departmental staff and partners is a key feature of this role in order to maximise the scope, quality and profile of sporting opportunities available to students.

The ideal candidate will have experience of sport development opportunities in comparable working environment, knowledge of BUCS and SSS structures, intervarsity competition and an understanding of their role in higher education. The ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences, including students, is essential, as is the capacity to work independently and as part of a small team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced and vibrant environment working with motivated, committed and inspirational individuals. The successful applicant must have a good level of education, excellent IT skills and be an enthusiastic, pro-active and dynamic person with a passion for sport.

The post holder will be primarily based in the Sports Union office, located in the University’s new £31m Strathclyde Sport facility in Glasgow City Centre, however regular interaction and hot desking is expected at USSA HQ, a short distance away.

This is a full time, permanent position. The role offers an excellent working environment of 35 hours per week and benefits package including 31 days annual leave, plus bank holidays. Frequent evening and weekend working outside normal office will be required during term to meet organisational needs, which time off in lieu will be granted.
