The Students’ Union is based over eight floors with three bars, a Starbucks café bar and spaces for functions and events of different sizes. We have been a focal point for students for the last 50 years, with acts such as Pink Floyd, Calvin Harris and Biffy Clyro playing our stages and pioneering club nights like the legendary TFI and 12 hour Tuesdays providing unforgettable memories for our members.
You will maximise the use of all three bars and bookable areas and maintain our aim of pioneering entertainment that is both commercially successful and has the ability to suit the ever changing needs and expectations of our members. You will build close relationships with the clubs and societies of the Union and promote the use of the Union for their activities and functions, making sure they are up to date with and aware of the excellent facilities we have on offer.
Your duties will change week to week. Not only will you be working hard at setting up and creating our entertainment programme, you will also be expected to be available for functions to ensure they run smoothly and act as the liaison between organisers or student groups and the Union staff. You will be a self-starter and must have an eye for detail – working to set up events in advance and ensuring that everything meets the high standards our members have come to expect.
You will use all the tools necessary to promote events and weekly nights, whether that be social media, advertising or by running and managing a small PR team. You will communicate directly with the Head of Commercial Services and work with duty managers and the bar & catering staff on a regular basis during club nights and events.
We are committed to delivering a positive experience for our members... you will play a big part in this!
Interviews are scheduled to take place during week commencing 18th June.
