Details

We’re looking for six students to help us reduce waste when students move out of halls in the summer. You’ll be working with the Sustainable Strathclyde Team over the coming weeks to engage with students who are moving out of University Halls and help to deliver our summer reuse activities. Your role will ensure that unwanted items are sorted, stored over the summer and then given a new life —helping students to save money and promoting sustainability!

What You’ll Do: 

  • Sort and organise donated items 
  • Promote drop-off locations across campus and encourage students to donate 
  • Set up and run giveaway events 
  • Coordinate charity collections for unsellable items 
  • Help keep events running smoothly 
  • Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere 
  • Assist students in finding what they need 
  • Set up and pack away at events 

Who We’re Looking For: 

  • Organised and practical thinkers who enjoy second-hand shopping and have an interest in sustainability 
  • Friendly, people-focused individuals with retail or customer service experience 
  • Team players who enjoy working in the community and making a difference 

Job Details: 

  • Pay: £13.17 per hour 
  • Team: Sustainable Strathclyde, University Estates Services 
  • Location: Strath Union and Residence Village 
  • Hours: Monday – Friday (and occasional weekends), 10am - 5pm 
  • Dates: April 28 - June 13 (sorting & drop-off work) and September (supporting markets during Freshers & Arrivals Week) – flexible working dates and hours according to your availability. 
  • Training: One session between April 22 - 25 
  • Interviews: April 24 

All successful candidates will receive full training and support from the Sustainable Strathclyde Team
