DF Concerts & Events is Scotland’s biggest and most successful music promoter and event management company. With Sustainability as one its core values, the company is currently working on the delivery of its 2025 Sustainability Action Plan, as well as the development of a Carbon Reduction Plan to take us to 2030. We are also engaged with various initiatives to drive innovation within our sector focused on measuring and reducing our environmental impact.

We are accepting applications from Undergraduate and Post Graduate students to undertake a meaningful student placement as part of their course with the aim to enhance employability skills that respond to the growing need for sustainability expertise as all sectors look to enhance their ethical and environmental 
performance. This is a great opportunity for students in further education to contribute positive social and environmental change through work-based learning in our organisation. 

The placement will be based at our Glasgow office, St Vincent Street as well as for short periods on-site at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow Green, and the Royal Highland Showgrounds. Specific details to be agreed with successful candidate and there will be flexibility around office days.


ACTIVITIES

  • Collecting and organising materials, waste and emissions data.
  • Assisting with the development of our 2026 Action Plan.
  • Administrative assistance and project support tasks, such as cleaning up survey data for review and requesting specific data from suppliers (such as production transport)
  • For event show days, there will be some requirements to assist with putting out signage and identifying issues such as overflowing bins or incorrect materials being given out by bars/traders
  •  On-site assistance may also involve the event management team with administrative tasks

 

KEY LEARNINGS ACQUIRED DURING PLACEMENT

  • Data collection and analysis.
  • CPD opportunities and training, particularly regarding the use of Excel and Google Cloud Console.
  • Enhancing research skills relating to Sustainable Development Goals, including Climate Action, Sustainable Consumption & Production, Affordable & Clean Energy, and Decent Work & Economic Growth.
  • Experience in sustainable event planning, co-ordination and delivery.
  • Experience in researching and developing circular approaches to event planning and delivery.
  • Understanding of biodiversity conservation in event planning in urban parks and venues.
  • Understanding of sustainability communications and how this relates to behaviour change.
  • Being part of a team, gaining business acumen and building confidence. 
  • Further develop critical and reflective thinking, strengthen communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Develop time and task management and awareness of dealing with deadlines. 

QUALIFICATION & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
This placement is targeted at students looking to gain and develop their experience of working in Sustainability in the environment of major event planning.  Guidance and supervision will be provided throughout the placement.

WHAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING

  • Do you have a basic understanding of fundamental concepts within Environmental Sustainability, such as Circular Economy, GHG emissions, Global Heating, Energy Transition, Biodiversity Loss
  • Have you attended an outdoor festival and understand what to expect (at least from a customer perspective)?
  • Are you passionate about music and feel connected to the culture of live events and concerts?
  • How confident are you with meeting new people and talking on the phone?
  • Would you be comfortable liaising with contractors and suppliers as required?
  • Do you have an aptitude for learning technical systems?
  • Do you have good communication and listening skills? What examples do you have?
  • Do you have good organisation and digital presentation skills? Examples?
