Would you like to come and work at the number one Union in Scotland (as voted in the recent Whatuni Student Choice awards)? Strath Union is looking for a talented PGR Engagement Assistant to join our growing team.

Job Description

Hours of Work: 8 hours a week

Contract dates: Available to start from the week of the 3rd February, until 31st July 2025. Excluding 7th-22nd April for Easter Break.

Main Activities/ Responsibilities

  • Collate information from PGR Faculty reps to create a PGR Faculty Rep and a PGR Department/Subject rep handbook.

  • Develop PGR specific rep training.

  • Update Strath Union’s website with PGR specific information including how Union activities can count towards PG Cert credits, PGR representation and other relevant information to enable and encourage PGR students to make use of the Union.

  • Connect with the Doctoral Researchers’ Group and Doctoral School to ensure clear communication to PGR students of the different groups' roles.

  • Carry out evaluation and monitoring of the project including creation of an impact report.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Current Post Graduate Research Student at Strathclyde

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience of working as part of a team

  • Ability to work independently and using initiative

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Commitment to equal opportunities

Desirable

  • Experience of developing training materials

 

Other

  • The post-holder will be eligible to join the Strath Union workplace pension scheme.
