Video Game Society

The VGS is a free membership society that meets up every Thursday (6:00 pm) at the Strath Union Building 1st Floor, the Society has the Mandela Room booked where we plug in the Society's equipment, but we also welcome people to bring along their consoles. Games that we frequently play include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Party and Gang Beasts, but if there is a game you want to be played on the Society's Nintendo Switch/Xbox One, then feel free to bring it with you or ask us, as we may have it already!

Come catch us at the freshers fair on Tuesday 17th September, complete with a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe setup and the committee there to answer any questions you may have, we'll be there for the whole fair so please do come to have a game of Mario Kart and say hi!

On Thursday 19th September at 6pm in TL328 we'll be hosting our freshers event: a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament with prizes, after which we'll be around until 10pm to play more games such as Smash Bros and Mario Party. If you'd like to join or have any questions, please join the VGS Discord Server (link below under contact details) and let us know! Tournament entry is free, just like society membership! TL328 is on the third floor of the Learning and Teaching Building and is on the floor above the Students' Union, but we'll meet on the second floor of the union from 5:30pm beforehand and head over as a group in case anyone needs a hand finding the room.

We highly recommend joining the Society's Discord where we have an active community within it. If you're looking to chat or just lurk around then feel free to join, it's completely free. People can also get in contact with the President via the Society email, if you have any questions prior to joining the society then feel free to send an email to strathclydevideogames@gmail.com. Sending an email does not mean you will get alerts to when meetings are happening, this is mainly for if you have any questions or inquiries.

If you want to find a member of the committee at a VGS meeting, there's basically a 100% chance that we'll be where the smash bros is, so do come and say hi!
