Providing useful solutions at the place of useful learning.

Hello Science PGRs!

Tell me, did you have to move cities/countries/continents to get to Strathclyde for your studies? Have you faced homelessness since you arrived in Glasgow? Have you ever feared running out of funds to cover your living expenses?

If you have, I know exactly how you feel!

My name is Natalia, I’m a final year PhD Student at SIPBS and your 2023-2024 Science PGR Rep. Like you, I have faced homelessness, faced financial difficulties, struggled to find work, and had to overcome the distress these challenges have caused. Having noticed a lack of practical and useful support for PGRs at Strathclyde to address these challenges, I have made it my mission to not only advocate on your behalf, but to strive to provide you with practical and useful solutions!

Having delivered on my promise to get you access to the “Alternative Guide to Post Graduate Funding,” I am campaigning for a second term to advocate on your behalf and bring about further changes to PGR experience.

Whether it is obtaining institutional subscriptions to important software; popularizing outreach/publication opportunities; or even setting up emergency vouchers/gift cards to help with essentials whilst emergency funding applications are being processed, during my time as your PGR Science Faculty Rep, I will continue to voice your concerns and strive to create practical solutions that address the real-life challenges we PGRs face.

Afterall, the “place of useful learning” out to have useful solutions to problems PGRs face every day!
