One last time?

It’s been a great pleasure to be your faculty rep for the past two election cycles. However, I also believe this position would be an excellent experience for someone else so want to make clear that if one of my fellow HaSS PGRs stands I would happily endorse them to see a fresh face in the role for 2025!

So, that said, why would I stand again? Well, last time I ran unopposed for the role. This means there was a chance that our faculty would be unrepresented at the various meetings the rep is invited to. Having attended those meetings, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving that chance open again. Representation matters, and by being in the room when discussions have taken place that have the potential to impact our PGR experience, I can say from experience that it is important we use our voice. That’s why I'm standing, to ensure we have a seat at the table(s) we are invited to.

I hope someone else decides to step up and bring a new set of objectives to the role but, if they don't, I promise I will:

- continue to represent the views of HaSS PGRs in faculty and Student Union meetings including the student parliament

- work with the other PGR faculty reps to ensure consistent messaging around the needs of the wider PGR community

- work with the other HaSS reps to understand shared challenges across the faculty and speak with one voice on those

Thank you...
