Your Voice, Our Purpose!

I am Ibiene Miranda George - as a dedicated postgraduate taught (PGT) student in the engineering department, I am excited to put myself forward as your faculty representative. This is to believe that our collective voices can drive meaningful change, enhance our academic experience and foster a supportive community. My aim is to ensure that your feedback  is heard and acted upon, creating an environment where we can all thrive - ensuring that WE ARE HEARD.

My objectives if elected are:

  1. Promote Mental Health & Well-Being: Ensure mental health and wellbeing resources are easily accessible to every student in the PGT engineering programme and create more awareness for students to speak up.
  2. Encouraging Diversity & Inclusion: Support initiatives that would promote inclusion and diversity to make learning more equitable.
  3. Fostering Community & Student Engagement: Pursue the need for industry connection, peer-to-peer and alumni networking to give us a strong footing after our programme.
  4. Enhancing Communication: Advocate for quality communication between PGT engineering students and the University.
  5. Improving Academic Resources: Promote the importance of up-to-date curriculum fostering employability and career-preparedness.

Together we can create a vibrant and supportive postgraduate community within the engineering faculty. With my previous experience as vice president of a youth division of an NGO, and marketing and media director of my undergrad-university’s podcast, which helped in forming my leadership skills, I hope to work towards a collective and better academic experience. Your voice matters, and I am here to ensure it is heard.
