Candidate for the position of Part Time Students' Rep
Together we'll foster our sense of belonging.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Salma Ghazal, and I'm a first-year postgraduate student studying Applied Statistics via distance learning. Being a volunteer course representative this year has allowed me to raise the issues encountered by my colleagues to the course team, making sure their voices are heard and working on improving their experiences at the course level.
We (as part-time students) often long for this sense of belonging to the University community, to be part of it and to benefit from every second we study at the University. Therefore, I want the voice of every part-time student to be heard and that they are well-represented because their opinions matter, and I would like to make our University experience the best.
My aims as a part-time students representative are:
1- Collecting your views and suggestions to enable a better feeling of inclusivity at the University.
2- Ensuring the possibility of virtually attending events, sessions and guest speakers' talks.
3- Working on the inclusivity of part-time and distance learning students in students' activities and extracurricular clubs-getting involved in extracurricular activities and improving interpersonal and soft skills have never been more critical in the workplace. I believe being a part-time student should never be an obstacle for you to get involved and benefit from these opportunities.
4- Working on building a virtual community hub for all part-time and distance-learning students for socialisation, information sharing and decreasing the sense of isolation.
I would be honoured to represent you to make your university experience positive, and I will do my best to help you enjoy your time at Strathclyde.
