Candidate for the position of Student Trustee
A Frank Union with Franklin
Who am I?
I am a PG student doing my MSc in International Marketing. I was the Student Council President at Heriot-Watt Dubai for the past two years, a School Officer and Class Rep during all my undergrad years.
Student Voice:
The Student Union recently laid out its Strategic Plan 18/22.
The role of the Trustee Board is to set the vision and values of the organisation and to ensure that the purpose of being a Students’ Union is fulfilled. From my previous experience as Student President, I have been highly passionate to always work for the students in delivering their views. By being your newly elected student trustee, I will be able to ensure that the Strath Union will continue to achieve its newly laid out strategies through YOU (its members) in the coming year.
Working in Partnership:
I wish to work towards ensuring that all members and students of the Union, and the University, work in partnership towards improving their services for the benefit of US, students. I will also ensure that our partnerships with our stakeholders and external parties are financially sound and thus in turn well-utilised for all our clubs, societies, in order for us to have an engaged student community.
Communications:
With new students coming in every year, it could be a challenge to understand what the needs of our incoming students are (just like me). With our strategic goals in place to engage and communicate with our students, I hope to work closely with the Union & its Staff towards improving these key factors for all our members in order for us accelerate our growth, position and awareness ahead of our deadline i.e. 2020; so that we grow to be a unique “Students” Union – campaigning and fighting for our students need.
